Tyres/Brakes/Shocks

TYRES

rsz tyres page 2Your tyres are your vehicle's only contact with the road. Tyres that are worn, cracked or out of balance will seriously affect your ability to control your car. That’s why it’s so important to inspect your tyres regularly.

You are more than welcome to call in today for a free inspection of your tyres. We can supply and fit all well known, quality name brands like Michelin, Goodyear and Toyo as well as offering cheaper alternatives. If you want to find out the benefits of different types of tyres, please give us a call, we would be happy to advise.

BRAKES

The brake system of your vehicle is the most important safety feature in your car. Being able to slow down or stop at a moment’s notice will help to avoid an accident. Spongy, sub standard brakes will not do the job they are designed to do and will not be as effective when needed, especially in an emergency stop situation.

At AWM Auto Services we can inspect and replace brake discs, pads and calipers. Please feel free to pop in to see us for a free brake check.

SHOCKS AND SPRINGS

Does one corner or end of your car look oddly low? Snapped or broken springs are common. Shock absorbers are a very important part of a vehicle’s suspension. They are designed to smooth and reduce any sudden shock impulse and dissipate kinetic energy.  All shock absorbers work by the principle of converting kinetic energy into thermic energy. Without good shock absorbers the most minor problem is an uncomfortable ride. Ensure your suspension components are in tip top condition by getting them checked regularly. We can check and replace where necessary.

Repairs

REPAIRS

repairs page

So often repairs are left to the last minute hoping that it will be all ok or the issue has stopped. Maybe that light that’s been flashing on your dashboard to tell you something is wrong disappears completely. Unfortunately, this is not the case and the sooner a problem is identified and repaired the better. More often than not this approach also saves time and money.

Each component in a car has it's own purpose and is connected to something else. Think of it like your own body, each part needs to be working properly otherwise it has knock on effects for the rest of you. Cars are exactly the same Worn tyres mean the brakes have to work harder to slow down or stop. The shock absorbers are working harder to compensate and the list goes on. So don’t ignore that flashing light, come and see us at AWM Auto Services where we can fix it quickly and save you money and time in the long run. It could be a minor cheap fix if caught early.

We offer all types of mechanical repair or replacement of worn or faulty components on your vehicle, from brakes to clutches, head gaskets to suspension, from full engine rebuilds to the repair or replacement of a noisy exhaust system, whatever is wrong with your car, we can fix it.

Our team of mechanic’s work with OEM quality parts on the market. If something needs replacing and the part is not available we can almost certainly source it elsewhere fast or provide an alternative solution to get you back on the road.

Mot testing

CLASS 4 AND CLASS 7 MOT TESTING

box2

An MOT test is a requirement by law for any car over three years old and must be carried out annually by a recognised MOT testing centre. An MOT is thorough check of all of the car's safety functions. At AWM Auto Services we work with a team of experienced MOT testers who have carried out hundreds of MOTs so know the system inside out. During an MOT the following is checked to see if it is fit for purpose and satisfies the required safety standards for UK highway laws:

  • Front, rear, brake and fog lights
  • Windscreen and wiper blade condition
  • Rear reflectors
  • Horn
  • Battery
  • Electrical wiring
  • Steering
  • Suspension
  • Tyres and wheels
  • Seatbelts function and condition
  • Body structure
  • Registration plates
  • Speedometer
  • Exhaust emissions
  • Rust and corrosion

If your vehicle fails the test we will call you to advise what work needs to be carried out for the car to pass a retest. We will only carry out the identified repairs once they have been agreed with you and a price for the work confirmed. We will also contact you when your MOT is due so you can book in with plenty of time to spare and at a time that in convenient to you.

At AWM Auto Services our car MOT tests cost just £40 and retests are free within 10 working days. Please note all MOT tests are by appointment, and a days’ notice is recommended.

Servicing

SERVICING

AWM services page image

We offer comprehensive servicing, including main dealer level service schedule and parts to meet dealer warranty requirements and prices start from just £49 so why go anywhere else?

Some people go years without servicing their car to save money but this is actually a false economy. By spending a little money on servicing to keep your vehicle in good condition it can stop expensive repairs occurring later on. At AWM Auto Services we have seen this happen time after time and always actively encourage all our customers to keep up with regular servicing.

Servicing your car can save money in fuel costs and keep the car performing at it's best.

Servicing can include the following:

  • Replace engine oil and filter
  • Fuel filters, air filters, cabin filters
  • Top up windscreen washer fluid
  • Top up coolant levels and check strength and condition
  • Check all internal and external lights
  • Check tyres (tread & pressure)
  • Check brake wear and function
  • DPF additive levels checked
  • Check instruments, gauges, warning lights
  • Test electrics (battery, alternator, starter motor)

We provide a range of levels when servicing a car depending on whether it’s an interim or full service. We can provide you with details of what is included within each service when you book. Many newer cars require servicing to be kept up to date to ensure the warranty remains valid. Regular servicing means when you come to sell or exchange your car it will have held it's value much better than it would have without a full service history.

If your service is due soon or is overdue please give us a call to book in your car at your convenience.
